Joy First. Progress Follows.

When a child can’t wait to get back on the equipment, something’s working. Grow Through Movement creates therapeutic tools that invite movement, build strength, and support development — without feeling like work. Because the best therapy doesn’t look like therapy.

GROW THROUGH MOVEMENT
Therapeutic Equipment by Tumbl Trak

Grow Through Movement is the therapeutic equipment division of Tumbl Trak, a company that has been designing movement equipment since 1988. What started as a way to make gymnastics training safer has become trusted equipment in pediatric therapy clinics, schools, and homes nationwide.

The connection makes sense. Equipment designed to help young gymnasts, cheerleaders, and dancers build skills on forgiving surfaces turns out to be exactly what children with motor planning challenges, sensory processing differences, and developmental delays need: safe materials, adaptable configurations, and designs that invite movement rather than intimidate.

How Therapists Found Us

We didn’t set out to serve the therapy community. They found us.

About a decade ago, occupational therapists and physical therapists started calling. They’d discovered our equipment — sometimes through a gymnastics facility, sometimes through a colleague — and they had questions: Do you have this in a smaller size? Can we configure it this way? What else do you make?

We listened. We attended our first AOTA conference. We visited clinics to learn from therapists firsthand. The feedback was clear: this equipment was making a difference in children’s lives.

Ten years later, we’re still learning.

Hiding the Work in the Play

Here’s something we’ve come to understand: when a child beelines toward a piece of equipment and forgets everything else, something is working. The therapy is happening, but they don’t know it’s therapy. They know they’re climbing, bouncing, rolling.

“Reach for it again” gets old fast. But put a target on something bouncy, wobbly, or climbable — and a child will reach a hundred times without realizing they’re working.

This is what we mean by “grow through movement.” The equipment invites the child. The movement builds the skills. The child experiences joy.

Designed for the Real World

Our founder Doug Davis started Tumbl Trak because gymnasts were training on hard floors. He built equipment that let them practice safely — so they could take more attempts, build confidence faster, and reduce injuries. That same principle guides everything we make today.

The features we designed for busy gyms turn out to be exactly what clinics and families need too: foam that holds up under high-volume clinical use. Surfaces that clean easily. Velcro closures that stay secure. Handles that make sense for a mobile therapist loading equipment into a car. Weight-to-portability balances that work in tight spaces.

Therapists tend to be skeptical of new equipment — they’ve seen too many purchases end up in a closet. But once they try our equipment with a few clients, something shifts. It stays out. Other therapists ask to use it. They start requesting more.

That’s usually how adoption happens. Not through a sales pitch, but through real world experience.

More Than Movement

Child development isn’t just physical mechanics — bend the arm, release, repeat. It’s the whole child: how they feel about the task, what fears they bring, whether they’re regulated enough to try.

A therapist once told us about a child who spent months practicing a simple exercise: grab a low bar, release. Grab, release. Then one day at home, the child started to fall on a short flight of stairs — and grabbed the rail. Saved himself.

His mother recognized it immediately. The practice had become protection. The therapy had become life.

We hear from families that our equipment has changed more than their child’s progress — it’s changed their household. Calmer mornings. Easier transitions. A child who can regulate, and parents who can breathe.

That’s what this is for. Not just skills. Safety, confidence, and capability that follow a child out of the clinic and into the world.
